The quartz stone industry is currently undergoing accelerated transformation and upgrading. As a key process to simulate natural stone textures, enrich color varieties and create differentiated slab products, heat transfer printing technology has been widely adopted by more and more slab manufacturers. However, the heat transfer printing process involves high-temperature hot pressing at 180–220°C, which imposes stringent requirements on the substrate resin in terms of high-temperature resistance, thermal yellowing resistance, thermal stability and toughness.
As pointed out by President Lu in his speech, the industry is facing prominent technical bottlenecks. After high-temperature heat transfer, conventional unsaturated resins commonly suffer from typical defects such as surface yellowing and darkening, blurred pattern distortion, slab cracking, peeling and warping. These issues result in a high finished product rejection rate, greatly restricting the large-scale production and quality improvement of heat-transfer-printable quartz stone.
Coupled with three long-standing industry pain points — product homogenization, residual harmful solvents in partial resin systems, and insufficient supply of high-end specialized resins — domestic heat transfer quartz stone products fail to fully leverage their market competitiveness.

During the speech, Lu Xudong focused on introducing the special technical research carried out by Fangxin Resin for heat transfer printing applications. Centering on three major directions including molecular thermal stability of resins under high-temperature conditions, wettability with quartz powder, and low-volatile eco-friendly formulations, the R&D team systematically optimized the resin molecular structure, acid-alcohol monomer ratio, as well as high-temperature and anti-yellowing additive systems. A series of unsaturated resins specially developed for heat transfer printing quartz stone, FX-8801, FX-8802 and FX-8803, have been successfully developed.
Tailored for high-temperature processing at 190–210°C in heat transfer printing, these resins can effectively inhibit thermal yellowing. Balancing high hardness and moderate toughness, they reduce risks of slab cracking and warping during hot pressing. Meanwhile, improved wetting bonding force between resin and quartz powder ensures clear transferred patterns, high color reproduction and outstanding pattern adhesion, minimizing defects such as color bleeding and fuzzy edges. In terms of environmental protection, the optimized formulation cuts the addition of toxic and hazardous solvents, safeguards occupational health and safety in production workshops, and complies with the green development trend of the industry.

“For heat transfer printing quartz stone to achieve genuine breakthroughs, reliance merely on equipment and transfer printing consumables is insufficient; the substrate resin constitutes the fundamental key,” stated Lu Xudong. Traditional general-purpose resins fail to meet the high-temperature operating conditions required by new processes, which is the core reason why many slab manufacturers struggle to raise yield rates after launching heat transfer printing production lines.
By developing specialized resins for heat transfer printing, Fangxin aims to make up for shortcomings in domestic materials. Domestic slab enterprises are able to steadily produce high-quality heat transfer printing quartz stone without full reliance on imported resins. This helps manufacturers escape vicious low-price competition, develop characteristic slabs with differentiated patterns that command premium prices, and expand into high-end application markets including home decoration, commercial project feature walls and countertops.

He further stressed that the industrial upgrading of heat-transfer printed quartz stone relies heavily on industrial chain collaboration. The purity and gradation of quartz sand aggregates, resin bonding systems, heat transfer printing inks, and process parameters must be well coordinated. Moving forward, Fangxin Resin will continue to collaborate with heat transfer printing equipment manufacturers and slab producers to conduct joint adaptation tests on raw materials, equipment and processes. By continuously upgrading resin products based on customers’ actual production conditions, the company provides complete material application solutions for the industry.

This negotiation conference serves as an efficient platform for communication and connection between upstream and downstream participants. Through this keynote presentation, Fangxin Resin demonstrated the technical strengths of its heat transfer printing resins to the industry and held technical exchanges and demand discussions with many quartz sand and quartz stone manufacturers. Going forward, Fangxin Resin will keep focusing on the R&D of high-performance unsaturated polyester resins, target the bottlenecks of new quartz stone processes, and consistently supply eco-friendly, stable and high-performance resin products. We will advance the high-quality development of China’s artificial quartz stone industry via material innovation.
